The number of Kentucky players in the NBA continues to rise and the Phoenix Suns have more than their fair share. They kept the theme going during last night’s 2016 NBA Draft by selecting Tyler Ulis.

A lot of places in Arizona don’t have grass for various reasons but if they did it’s safe to say the grass out there would be bluegrass.

So pipeline really isn’t too strong of a word. The Lexington flavor in The Valley of the Sun is stronger than ever right now. This phenomenon has even survived coaching changes. Jeff Hornacek was the head coach when Knight, Booker, Goodwin and Bledsoe were brought in. He was let go before the end of last season. Earl Watson was hired on April 1, yet the pipeline never faltered.

For a split second the Suns even broke the mold on having Kentucky guards by adding a UK big man.

Skal was later traded to the Sacramento Kings but he was drafted by Phoenix which only strengthens the pipeline that we’ve been alluding to.

The Suns conglomerate of UK guards may not all stay in tact in Phoenix though. Marc Stein of ESPN hinted before the draft that there may be some movement in the works.

This may very well be the case and it’s understandable if it is. The Suns are well stocked in the back court. However it was cool to see all of those former Cats on one squad. If and when some of those guys change addresses, BBN will be sure to follow.
