For Nike athletes the motto is simple – “Unlimited. Together.”
As the United States prepares to head to Rio to attempt another gold medal campaign, Nike is promoting a message of unity for the United States with their signature athletes.
The theme, “Unlimited. Together.” is a new one for Nike, who typically relies on the Olympic games to display some of their new tech and finest merchandise on the world’s largest stage.
This year, with the recent political unrest in the United States, Nike is promoting the United States Men’s Basketball team as a symbol of unity for Americans to rally behind.
The theme, “Unlimited”, refers to the unlimited capability of the talent and potential of all of their athletes. Although they have obviously adapted the red, white, and blue as the official colors for Team USA, most Nike apparel will feature bright hits of green, pink, and orange to represent the broad spectrum of individual talents that the Nike athlete team is comprised of.
With Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Durant, Kyle Lowry, and Paul George all on the active Men’s roster as Nike athletes, Nike once again is in the spotlight for the world games.
Anthony Davis, who is coming off knee surgery, will not be able to play for the team although he was invited.
While at the Nike Academy today, Davis joined LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Julius Randle for photos to be used in marketing this summer during the Olympics.
Davis was heavily featured in the 2016 All Star Collection promotions from Nike, even getting his own special version of a Nike shoe released in stores for All Star Weekend, which is still available at most Foot Locker stores.
Look for former Cats Davis and Randle to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of Nike, and for Rookie of the Year Karl Anthony Towns, who signed with Nike in 2015, to be up next.
