I know the title of this post is corny… but it’s fun. When a player like Benny Snell has a game like he had, you’ve got to have fun with his name. With the internet nowadays, it’s almost mandatory.

Now everyone who saw last Saturday’s game witnessed Snell go off! Snell had four touchdowns with 130+ yards against New Mexico State… and he’s a true freshman. I personally like seeing Snell carry the ball out of the wildcat formation. The biggest moment though (besides tying a school record) was when Snell single-handily carried four New Mexico State men on his back into the end-zone for a touchdown.

Snell didn’t give up. His attitude is admirable. His fight and drive are encouraging. Most importantly… he had his shot (with Jojo facing injuries), and Benny exceeded all expectations.

After the game, Snell was humble. There’s no other way to put it. I got to interview him, and his responses were the following;

“I’m glad we got the win, I just tried to do what I could.”

“The O line played amazing… those are my favorite guys.”

“(Stephen) He did a real good job at quarterback. In practice, he does his thing so when it came to game time, I knew he was ready.”

Almost every question that was asked where Benny could’ve taken the opportunity to promote himself… he deflected and praised his team. As a member of the UK media… it was humbling for me as I interviewed him.

Let’s look at Benny’s mega run and closing moments of his evening below in pictures.

My favorite picture is the last one. Seeing Snell’s family and friends embrace him with proud hugs and love is really what Kentucky Football is all about. Thank you Benny for the memories!

Let’s hope he makes some more memories tomorrow night against the Gamecocks! Go CATS!
