I Had A Choice

I had a choice. This was a choice that years ago would have been a no-brainer for me. However, things have changed… feelings have developed… and life is different. It’s not the choice of Fruity Pebbles over Cinnamon Toast Crunch and it’s not the choice of Pokemon cards over Pogs.

My choice was to either attend the Kentucky football game against Georgia or the Kentucky basketball game against Asbury. In years past, I would have chosen the basketball game regardless if it was an exhibition game or not. Being in Rupp Arena, sitting on the court taking pictures, and interacting with the media all is wonderful, BUT… this Kentucky Football team has changed me. It isn’t a bad thing. I literally mean this team has encouraged, motivated, and taught me so much… about myself. One motivation this team has taught me is to not give up… no matter what challenge you face.

I’m not saying the basketball team doesn’t encourage me, but I chose to cover the football game, because of the recent cloud of belief that has followed the program. I knew the atmosphere inside Commonwealth Stadium was going to be unique… and it was. It is not explainable with words… perhaps this video will do it justice.

Despite the loss to Georgia, this team has the Big Blue Nation believing again. At the beginning of the season there were so many fans who checked out after the Southern Miss. game. Slowly but surely, game after game, Kentucky proved their will to win… but more importantly their will to FIGHT! This team fights! Benny Snell fights! Boom Williams fights! [Fill in the blank] fights!

So as the football season comes to a close over the next few weeks… let us not forget how far this team has come. You have a choice. I want to encourage you to choose not to check out of the football program now that basketball is starting back up. Continue to support this team until the end of the season, regardless the outcome. Absolutely cheer for basketball as well, but, when it comes to these football student-athletes… they deserve our support whether we make a bowl game or not (even though we probably will Image result for smiling emoji).
