The pace picked up for the NBA Summer League today as the Utah league began play, in addition to having more games in Orlando. With Philadelphia playing in Utah, this meant more former Cats seeing action. Here’s how everyone fared:
Dakari Johnson is making his case for a spot on an NBA roster, having scored 21 points and grabbing 7 rebounds today as the Thunder downed the Knicks 99-87. All reports were that Johnson had been working exceptionally hard on improving his body as well as his game, and it certainly shows. Seriously, did you ever imagine Dakari doing this?

Meanwhile, Bam Adebayo continued to be dominant as he racked up 29 points and 11 rebounds in the Heat’s 86-83 loss to the Pacers. Yes, it’s “just” Summer League, but Bam seems to be improving by leaps and bounds and is starting to look like the steal of the 2017 draft.
With action beginning in Utah tonight, the Big Blue Nation was treated with seeing 3 former Cats on one team, and at one point, all 3 on the court at the same time — Alex Poythress, Aaron Harrison, and Isaiah Briscoe. While Poythress and Harrison had very respectable outings, Briscoe struggled, managing only 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal while committing 4 turnovers and shooting o-fer for field goals (0-2), 3-pointers (0-1), and free throws (0-2).
Alex Poythress had a solid night, scoring 11 points and grabbing 5 boards. He added 2 steals and 2 blocks and was a starter for Philadelphia. Aaron Harrison came off the bench and added 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals. If you’d like to see highlights of this game, check out this video:
