No matter what sport Big Blue Nation is cheering for at any given time, whether it’s basketball, football, baseball, or underwater basket weaving, there are some members of BBN that are going to go into full-on implode mode if the team isn’t perfect. Twitter becomes alive with negative posts lamenting a lost season. This time it was after just ONE game… One game…
Our most recent BBN implosion example would be from last Saturday’s game against Southern Mississippi. I mean “Wildcat” was trending, but it was for all the wrong reasons. The football team’s special teams were the star of a grueling, ugly win. BUT one ugly game doesn’t a season make.
I, too, have been guilty of being pessimistic when a game doesn’t go like I think it should. Key words- I THINK. I forget that I’m watching 18-22 year olds who go through 18-22 year old things. Players that are learning a system while learning to become adults. They’re not ever going to be perfect. It is hard to see the forest from the trees (I just love clichés). We lost some key players from last year’s bowl team and have to fill gaps with players with less experience. IT TAKES TIME! Do you honestly think that 5 years is long enough to change the culture of UK Football? No, in fact, it may take another 5 years.
I saw on my TL where someone tweeted “Kentucky gonna Kentucky”. Well, BBN gonna BBN.
