Coffee and Five Stars a Perfect Combination

BY TINA COX

Monday—Good Morning, would you like a five-star recruit with your cup of coffee?

Tuesday—Good Morning, would you like another five-star recruit with your cup of coffee?

Just when I thought my first cup of coffee could get no better I was proven wrong the past two days.

The departures of Knox and Alexander were inevitable. The BBN held on to a glimmer of hope as decisions were delayed. The glimmer lost its shine as both announced their intentions to enter the draft.

Then, within 48 hours Coach Cal waved his magic wand, E.J. Montgomery and Ashton Hagans announced their commitments to the University of Kentucky. Overnight Kentucky went from a top five recruiting class to number one or two depending on the reclassification of Hagan.

Calipari has decided to take recruiting in his own hands. Is he tired of losing top recruits to Duke? Was the loss of Zion the spark that lit the fire? Time will answer that question but for now, all of BBN should remember, “Trust in Cal.”

As of right now (could change by the time I post this) here is a look at the current roster.

Upper Classmen (to satisfy the one and done haters)

Quade Green
Nick Richards (announced he will return)
Brad Calipari
Jemarl Baker
Johny David
Wenyen Gabriel (will stay if not first round pick, welcome back)
P.J. Washington (going to combine but more than likely will return)
Jarred Vanderbilt

Freshmen

Tyler Herro (shooting guard)
Immanuel Quickly (point guard)
EJ Montgomery (power forward)
Ashton Hagans (point guard)
Keldon Johnson (shooting guard)

*Diallo not listed because in my opinion he is gone.

The first game of the 2018-2019 basketball season is November 6th in Indianapolis. The Kentucky Wildcats will play the Duke Blue Devils at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Book your room, take off work.  It will be here in a few short long months.
