Kentucky in the NBA Summer League – July 13

As the 2018 Summer League winds down, there are still some former Cats trying to make some noise and impress their teams.   While Kevin Knox, Isaiah Briscoe, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dakari Johnson got the night off, there were still some solid performances to be seen.
Alex Poythress continues to fight to prove to any of the 30 teams in attendance that he is worthy of a roster spot.  He entered the Summer League having completed the first year of a 2-year contract with Indiana, but the Pacers waived him on July 6.  With 14 points tonight and a huge dunk, hopefully, he is attracting more attention and will find a home by the start of the season.

After a bit of a slow start to the Summer League, Hamidou Diallo appears to have gotten his footing and is getting stronger with each game.  This has prompted at least one OKC fan to suggest a new nickname for Hami:

Finally, the undrafted Wenyen Gabriel continues to make his case that he is worthy of a team taking a chance on him this season.  His 7-point, 10 rebound night might not raise eyebrows, but this play certainly did:
