I am sure no one else is using that title!
I am writing this brief recap on my phone because none of my other devices are working. I take that back, they are connecting at dial-up speed. I apologize in advance for any mistakes.
When Tom Leach says, “strangest game I have ever been a part of,”’ one knows what they just experienced.
The headline of the night was with 4 minutes left in the first half the electricity at Imperial Arena went totally out. The generators immediately kicked on providing minimal power.
A decision was made by the coaches to go to halftime and add 2 minutes on to the second half clock.
The second half started with no TV connection leaving media members no choice but to do live coverage via Facebook and Periscope.
At some point electricity was restored to the arena and the court was no longer somewhat hazy.
Post-game player interviews were briefly interrupted by a short black out and fire alarms.
It has been a strange night in paradise.
Takeaways from the game:
Coach Barbee in the post-game conference confirmed the plan was to get the ball to the bigs, opening up the perimeter for the shooters.
Tyler Herro is quickly becoming a crowd favorite. He can only be explained as being a baller. He finished the game with 18 points and made it known he can shoot from anywhere on the court.
Reid Travis is a beast. He added 8 points and 6 rebounds for his 28:54 minutes played. He looked more comfortable offensively tonight.
Quade Green’s extra time in the gym gave him the confidence needed on the court. His first shot (a three) set the tone for the evening.
That’s it tonight from the Bahamas. Tomorrow is an off day and hopefully, all will be back to normal when the CATS tip-off Saturday night.
