The 2019 NBA Summer League started on Monday, July 1 with two round robin tournaments (Salt Lake City and Sacramento) which will serve as a warm-up for the big event in Las Vegas which begins on July 5.
In Salt Lake City, Keldon Johnson made his NBA debut with the Spurs while in Sacramento, Tyler Herro (Miami Heat) and Wenyen Gabriel (Sacramento Kings) got to see their first action. All of their respective teams took home a victory tonight.
Herro made a splash with his opening game as he scorched the nets with 50% shooting from 3-point range (5-10) and finished playing 24 minutes and scoring 18 points while adding 4 assists to his stat line.
Gabriel also had a solid night, recording a double-double (26 points and 12 rebounds). Wenyen showed some great defense on the court, as well. If one wanted to find a negative, his free throw shooting (4-9) could certainly use improvement.
Stats will be updated daily. Please note, the players listed are the ones that appeared on their respective teams’ rosters this weekend, but it’s possible some of them will not play.
