Kentucky linebacker Chris Oats has been moved to a rehabilitation center, according to Mike Dyer of WCPO 9 News in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Oats had been hospitalized for almost two weeks, as it was first reported back in May by Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio that he had indeed been hospitalized due to a medical issue. The family confirmed the report with Jones and said the illness was not Covid-19 and asked for privacy on the issue.
UK Head Coach Mark Stoops tweeted his comments on the issue back on May 23, and asked for fans to pray for Oats and his family.
“BBN, we hope you’ll join us in keeping Chris Oats and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” Stoops said. “He’s in the hospital due to a medical issue we can confirm isn’t related to Covid-19. He’s expected to move to a physical rehabilitation center in the near future, but beyond that his family has requested that their privacy be respected during this time.”
Oats is a valuable piece of the linebacker core for UK, but this is an issue past football, and it is good news to see him take the next step to the rehab center.
