KHSAA Board of Control Votes on Plan for Fall Sports

The Kentucky High School Athletics Association Board of Control met today to finalize a plan for fall high school sports in the state that best avoids further spread of Covid-19.

This will be the itinerary for the sports of field hockey, volleyball, soccer and cross country:

  • Aug. 24 – Six hours of practice during the week
  • Aug. 31 – Full week of practice
  • Sept. 7 – Competition will begin

The initial plan for high school football goes as followed:

  • Aug. 24 – First practice (helmet only)
  • Sept. 18 – First regular-season games (9-week regular season)
  • Nov. 13 – Five weeks of playoffs begin
  • Dec. 11-12 – State finals moved ahead one week

All fall high school sports in the state have been allowed to participate in voluntary workouts while following testing protocols, similarly to University of Kentucky sports currently on campus. The board plans to meet on Aug. 24 (when first football practices begin) to further examine Coronavirus pandemic numbers in the state.
