Derrius Mullins Interview

Derrius Mullins #71

Derrius Mullins is a 6’5″, 315 pound defensive tackle out of Ohio who recently visited the University of Kentucky for Junior Day. Derrius has started to pull in offers from some bigger name Division 1 schools such as Pittsburgh, Indiana, and Kentucky. You can expect to hear of a lot more schools to offer this young man who has the size that translates well to the college level. He also has visited with Ohio State, which we all know is the dream school of most (if not all) Ohio football recruits. However, it is not known how serious the interest is between the two.

Derrius was kind enough to give me a few minutes of his time in which he discusses his recruitment so far, his top 5 schools, and when he plans to make a decision on his future. After reading this, be sure to give him a shout out and follow him on Twitter at Derrius Mullins

Me: Where are you at exactly in your recruitment? Any offers as of yet?

Derrius: Just trying to get any schools possibly interested. UK has offered and Pittsburgh is my latest offer.

Me: What school/schools are recruiting you the hardest?

Derrius: Indiana is recruiting me the hardest at this time.

Me: Do you currently have a list of top 5 schools or is it still too early in your recruitment?

Derrius: Yes sir. My top 5 are Indiana, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, and Wisconsin in no particular order.

Me: Kentucky has really hit Ohio hard since the arrival of Stoops and Marrow. What has their Ohio background done to change the way Ohio kids view the University of Kentucky?

Derrius: The coaches are very hard recruiters who have a history in the state of Ohio. Ohio guys enjoy going to Kentucky because it is close to home.

Me: Who has been the lead recruiter at UK for you and what has been the major attraction to UK for you?

Derrius: My lead recruiter has been Coach Marrow. The things I really like about Kentucky is they offer the major I am interested in, I see where the coaches are taking the football program, and I see a lot of success in the future.
