Mac Jones Interview

Mac Jones is a 6’2″, 180 pound 4* Quarterback out of Bolles High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Jones is a pro-style quarterback who has recently seen his recruitment and rankings skyrocket and has now started receiving major interest from major football powerhouses. Mac recently attended an Elite 11 event for some of the nations top quarterbacks and he did not disappoint as many named him as one of the top performers and biggest surprises at the event. As Mac enters into his Senior year of high school, he will only draw more attention from other schools, but I do believe this young man is a solid commit to Kentucky and will have a very big possibility of starting for the Cats by his Junior year.

Mac, an early commitment to Kentucky, started working on getting other recruits to join him at UK and he seemed pretty excited after yesterday’s commitment from JaVonte Richardson. JaVonte is the #2 rated player out of the state of Ohio who will play wide receiver for the Cats. These two could make a very dangerous combination at Kentucky. The 2017 recruiting class is shaping up to be the best of the Mark Stoops era and as Mac Jones continues to rise up the rankings, he will only become more influential in getting other top recruits to join him in Lexington; much like Drew Barker did two years ago for the Cats. Mac and the rest of this class has the star power and ability to take Kentucky to the next level. When you add this years offensive line recruits to guys like Mac, Richardson, Mike Warren, and others, it may start to change the way outsiders think when they hear the words Kentucky Football.

Yesterday, Mac Jones was kind enough to do a little Q&A with me to share with the Big Blue Nation. In it he shares where he stands with UK after the departure of Shannon Dawson, who was his primary recruiter. Mac Jones is currently on a visit to Arizona State and will also be visiting the California Golden Bears. Mac visiting other schools has many in the Big Blue Nation wondering if he may be wavering on his commitment to the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Cats fans, wait no more! I was able to get an answer about where Mac stands with the Cats. Enjoy! Once you are finished reading, be sure to show Mac Jones the love of the BBN and follow him on Twitter.

DC: You have recently seen your recruitment skyrocket to the next level. Can you explain what that experience has been like for you?

Mac: Obviously, it’s exciting to receive a ton of offers and it feels good to show hard work paying off. I have always dreamed of being a big time prospect since I was little and now some of my goals are coming true.

DC: You were pretty close with Shannon Dawson, who was let go by Stoops and is now on the Southern Miss staff. Has that changed how you view the University of Kentucky?

Mac: My view of Kentucky is the same. Obviously, I was worried at first but Coach Stoops made two great hires in Coach Gran and Coach Hinshaw. I’m excited to get to work with these intense coaches.

DC: It sounds like you remain 100% committed to UK. Is that fair to say?

Mac: Yes, and with me taking a few visits, that doesn’t mean I’m wavering or anything. When Dawson accepted my commitment, I told him I would take visits no matter what just to soak up the process.

DC: Have you been actively recruiting others to join you in Lexington, and if so, can you give us a few names?

Mac: I have always been actively recruiting. Some of the names now are Tony Gray and Tyler Dunning.

DC: Something I always do to end my Q&A’s with UK commits is give a chance for the recruits to share a message with the Big Blue Nation if they want to. Do you have something you’d like to say to the BBN?

Mac: If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same. That is my favorite quote and it applies to playing and fans alike.
