Chase Monroe Interview

Chase Monroe is a 3* linebacker from Davidson, North Carolina, where he plays for Davidson Day. He is a 6’1″ 225 pound, inside linebacker who is rated 54th nationally at that position, as well as the 32nd ranked recruit coming out of North Carolina. Chase is a recruit on the rise who should continue to be more sought after by the end of his senior year as his abilities increasingly come to light. Like the Kentucky coaches have done so many times under Mark Stoops’ guidance, they were able to show their knack for being great early evaluators, and were one of the first to offer him a scholarship in hopes it will give them an advantage in his recruitment.

Chase currently holds offers from 2 SEC schools,  the Kentucky Wildcats and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. There are two other SEC schools currently showing a lot of interest in the form of the Tennessee Volunteers and the South Carolina Gamecocks, but it is unclear if either will extend an offer to him in the future. Others schools of note to have offered Chase at this time consist of Illinois, Miami (Ohio), Southern Miss, and East Carolina. Some of the schools showing interest in Chase include Clemson, Duke, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Oregon.

Chase was on a recruiting visit to the University of Kentucky yesterday and he told me he had a great time. Chase took  to Twitter to say “Always A great time in Lexington! #BBN” and you can bet this will most likely not be his last trip to Lexington. Be sure to show Chase the love on Twitter and also give him a follow here. Below you will read my Q&A with Chase.  I know the Big Blue Nation will enjoy. First though, I will leave you with his tweet right after his visit to Lexington, which is accompanied with a few pictures.

DC: You currently have offers from schools out of the SEC, Big Ten, and ACC. What has it meant to you to be able to have so much attention from major conferences?

Chase: I am very humbled to have received all the scholarship offers.  I have to thank God for what He has done for me. It’s also a testament to our program and our religious background at the school, along with our work ethic we have

DC: Where do you currently stand in your recruitment? Do you have a list of top schools at the moment?

Chase: I don’t really have a list of top schools right now, but Kentucky, Mississippi State, and ECU are towards the top. I am really high on UK and I love Lexington, I love the coaches and that the program is on the rise.

DC: Which schools have been recruiting you the hardest to this point?

Chase: Kentucky, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss

DC: Who has been your primary recruiter from Kentucky?

Chase: Coach Elliot

DC:  Do you have a time frame for when you plan on either trimming down your list of schools or coming to a decision?

Chase: I will most likely trim my list to a top 3 by the end of summer. UK will for sure be in my top 3 though. Early into the football season, I would like to take all my official visits and make a decision on where to attend college so I can focus on the season

DC: Do you have a message you would like to share with the Big Blue Nation?

Chase: I am very grateful for the support the Big Blue Nation has shown me on Twitter and I can definitely see myself as part of the Big Blue Nation
