In 2014 things were looking pretty good for Kentucky Football.
Optimism for Mark Stoops was at a high point, and rightfully so. His 2014 recruiting class was ranked 18th in the country by Rivals.
Now just two years later, Mikel Horton has become the tenth player from that class to leave the program.
UK Football officials confirmed Horton had requested his transfer from the program. Horton is no longer participating with the team, but will finish out his courses for the semester.
Horton has fallen in the depth chart behind Williams, Kemp, and the breakout Benny Snell all ahead of Horton.
When asked in August about Kentucky’s depth at his position, which had reached six scholarship athletes, Horton was confident there would be playing time for everyone.
“All of us are going to play, there’s no doubt in my mind that all of us are going to play.”
Horton so far this season has had three carries for a total of 12 yards.
