He didn’t strike a Heisman pose. He didn’t flinch, although he was playing injured. He never looked towards the ground. All he did was win.
He was the unknown quarterback. He left his family and friends and traveled three thousand miles to be part of a SEC football program.
He was back-up to the face of the program.
Many fans did not even know his name. He was simply “that kid from California.”
A season in which the wheel was falling off the wagon took another dive when Drew Barker was carted off the field.
There he stood on the sidelines….the tall lanky California kid. The reins were handed to him and he never looked back.
Stephen Johnson is a soft spoken young man who has overcome obstacles his whole life. He must have known he had huge shoes to fill but he didn’t back down. He stood tall and all he has done is win.
Thank you Stephen Johnson. You are a class act. You have helped lead this team in the right direction. You are respected. You are a winner.

It’s spelled REINS. It’s a horse term. It’s a KENTUCKY thing.
Thanks.

Underestimated and underrated imo 😉
