“Don’t worry about what is going on at your neighbor’s house…as long as your house is clean you have nothing to worry about.”—Nanny, my 91 year old grandmother
The older I get the more I realize the truth to this Nanny quote.
Two years ago on a Friday afternoon the news broke that the University of Louisville allegedly allowed strippers to performs acts with basketball recruits among other actions. The details have been written and broadcast in their entirety.
In the upcoming weeks the NCAA will release their punishment to the University of Louisville Cardinals.
I have come to the conclusion that I don’t care.
There are only a few days a year that U of L is relevant to me. I care only when they are playing the Wildcats. This occurs usually once in the fall, once in the winter and occasionally in the spring. What they do any other day of the years means nothing to me. I do not cheer for them because I do not care if they win or lose.
I really don’t care….let me state again…I really don’t care.
Will the banner come down from the ceiling of the Yum Center? Once again, this does not affect the Kentucky Wildcats. For the Kentucky fans who are hoping for this to occur I ask you the following question:
Do you really think the public would be invited?
I don’t care if Papa John is on the Louisville Athletic Board or any other board for the University. The only relevance in my life where Papa John is concerned is if they put extra sauce on my pizza. I do however enjoy the discount the day after a Wildcat win.
I don’t care if the NCAA doesn’t “throw the hammer down.” We all know it would be different if Kentucky was on the receiving end. There is no need to make comparisons, CAT fans know this to be true.
I do care that somehow through this process a woman in Louisville has been made a celebrity by some because of immoral actions in which she was a participant and perhaps in many cases the ring leader.
Kentucky fans over the next few weeks should hold their heads high. Our house is clean and in reality that is all that matters…just ask Nanny.
