Bam Rolling, Willis Rising – Day 2 Summer League

The 2nd day of the Orlando Summer League once again had some former Cats in action.  Not surprisingly, Bam Adebayo continued to impress Heat fans, while Derek Willis put up better numbers with limited time on the court.  Oklahoma City did not have a game today, so Dakari Johnson had the day off.

In the first game of the day, the Pistons dealt the Knicks a 103-78 loss.  Derek Willis again had limited action (11 minutes), but did tally 8 points, 1 rebound to go with 3 assists.   Of those 8 points, 6 were the result of his 2-4 shooting from 3-point range.

Miami was also back in action today which gave Bam Adebayo an opportunity to keep shining.  For the 2nd straight game, he scored 14 points and barely missed another double-double (9 rebounds).  He also had 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks to round out his day, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Magic, who won the game 81-68.

Tomorrow, games continue in Orlando while the Utah league begins play as well.  There are only 4 teams at the Utah venue (Boston, Philadelphia, San Antonio and Utah), and their round robin format will be played on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Orlando has games scheduled Monday through Wednesday, and then the championship round will be held on Thursday.

Monday’s games of interest:

Orlando – 1:00 pm  OKC (Dakari Johnson) vs NYK

5:00 pm IND vs MIA (Bam Adebayo)

Utah – 7:00 pm  BOS vs PHI (Alex Poythress, Aaron Harrison, and possibly Isaiah Briscoe)
