When UK unveiled the massive football stadium renovations in 2015, they added more events to give fans a more robust game day experience. One of the more popular events has become the pre-game concerts that begin after each game’s Cat Walk. This tradition will continue in 2017 and the fans have voted for the act they wanted to see for Saturday’s opener against Eastern Kentucky University. The winner is Walker Montgomery.
Walker is the son of country music star, John Montgomery and is the nephew of Eddie Montgomery (half of the Montgomery Gentry duo). Besides being an aspiring music artist, Walker is also a student at UK.
Historically, fans are not overly fond of the noon kick-off times and this can have a negative impact on game attendance. However, the announcement of Montgomery’s concert may be enough to persuade some folks to head on out to Kroger Field early on Saturday.
With a noon kick-off, the Cat Walk is set to begin at 9:45 with the concert beginning immediately afterward. The concert will be held in the plaza outside of Gate 12. Tickets still remain for the game and information can be found at UKFootballTix.com. For further incentive to attend that game, fans are reminded Saturday has been designated as Heroes Day, and specially priced $30 tickets will benefit Homes for Our Troops.
