The NBA greeted us earlier than ever with the Houston Rockets capping off opening night at Oracle Arena against the Golden State Warriors. It was opening night, Adam Silver was in the building and fresh hardware was being distributed.

For the second time in three seasons Golden State unveiled a banner and put on incredible rings. The Rockets waited patiently in the locker room during the festivities.

Once the game began Houston saw Golden State jump out to good leads that they continually had to whittle away.

And whittle they did! They were down 22-9 in the first quarter, 66-49 in the second and 80-64 in the third but situated themselves to be in striking distance going into the fourth quarter where they went for 34 points which matched their first quarter point total.

Houston used a balanced scoring attack with six players scoring in double figures and three of those six going for 20 or more points.

Chris Paul’s debut wasn’t exactly scintillating but the Rockets were still able to pull out a nice win on the road.

No doubt there will be some ups and downs as he transitions to the Rockets new system and continues to build chemistry with James Harden and the rest of the team.

It was only one game at the beginning of a long season but the Rockets were able to put a nice feather in their cap by showing that they can again go into Oracle and win games.

Up next, their first back to back as they go to Sacramento to tonight to face De’Aaron Fox in his NBA debut in hopes of moving to 2-0, tip-off is set for 10:00 P.M. ET.
