Ah, Christmas time. It’s the season of hope and goodwill toward men. It’s that one time of year when miracles seem not just possible but very probable.
It’s also that time of year when we get gifts. Some of our gifts are wonderful and others are, well, less than wonderful. But if I were Santa Claus, I would make sure the gifts I chose would be loved by the recipients. With that in mind, I came up with a list of things I would love to give to some players, coaches, students, and of course, the fans. So, with a wink and a nod to The Twelve Days of Christmas, here is my ultimate Big Blue Gift Wish List:
I’ll start with some gifts for players:
12 (minimum) games that Jarred Vanderbilt gets to play. Let’s be honest: we can not wait to see Jarred on the court and see what he adds to our young Cats.
11 rebounds/game average for Nick Richards. I like to see hard work rewarded.
10 more home wins in Rupp Arena. Check your schedule and you’ll see that’s exactly how many home games remain this season.
For Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart:
9 (minimum) programs nationally ranked. This should be fairly simple as numerous Kentucky programs have been ranked in recent seasons. Men’s basketball, women’s basketball, rifle, gymnastics, softball, baseball, track & field, volleyball have all been enjoying great success.
For Coach Mark Stoops:
8 (minimum) regular season wins in 2018. No further explanation necessary.
For the Media Folks:
7 alternative words to use in place of “chippy.” It always amazes me when things get a little tense in a game and players are on the verge of fighting, every single sportscaster (and a whole bunch of other media folks that are tweeting” uses the word “chippy” to describe the situation. My gift to all of you is this list of suggested replacement words. How about aggressive, combative, bristly, prickly, testy, quarrelsome, or even contentious? Let’s be creative in 2018!
For the Big Blue Nation:
6 NCAA Tourney wins. ‘Nuff said.
For the students:
5 dollar student tickets!
Another one for Coach Stoops:
4-star recruits as far as the eye can see!
For the fans, coaches, and humanity:
3 competent officials in one game. Hey, a girl can dream!
For Coach Calipari:
And, for coaches, players, students, and the BBN:
1 more National Championship trophy!
From all of us at Cameron Mills Radio, we wish all of you a most joyous holiday season. May your Christmas be merry and filled with family and friends!
