Kentucky fans know that this young team has had different guys take turns at being the best and most consistent player on the team, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been at the top of this list for a minute now.
Today the conference gave him some love by recognizing him as the SEC Freshman of the Week.

SGA joins Hamidou Diallo as the second Cat to win the honor. He’s put up some gaudy numbers while setting up the rest of the guys to get the rock in their sweet spots. With the absence of Quade Green he’s also had to flip the switch into iron man mode as he rarely leaves the court once the game is under way.
He also made some Coach Cal era freshman history along the way.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the 2nd Kentucky player, and the first freshman, in the John Calipari era to have 22 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds in a SEC road game (Tyler Ulis at Texas A&M, February 20th, 2016 the other to do so)

As the rest of the team continues to get their bearings Shai’s level of play will continue to rise also.
That’s a pretty scary thought.
