Rolaids, Garage Sitting and Winning

It was going to be a good night. The dishwasher was loaded, one cup of coffee consumed and tipoff was just a few minutes away.

I grabbed the iPad and plopped in the recliner with a blanket and a beagle as a covering. The CATS were coming off the huge win at West Virginia where they played like a team on a mission. Vandy is not a good team. It was to be a relaxing night. But…..

Midway through the first half I made my way to the kitchen for the Rolaids.  The butterflies were starting and I thought I would “nip it in the bud.”

Bryce Drew was being interviewed at halftime…wait….the coach of the team in the lead gets that interview. Rolaids number 2 in the mouth.

At the ten minute mark of the second half it was time for my garage break. It is worth noting the garage breaks usually only occur during March Madness. After three minutes (yes, I time this) it was time to return to reality.

Rolaids number 3 occurred at the five minute mark and also another trip to the garage.

Upon my return the following thought were filling my head:

Vandy is really going to beat us at Rupp.
I will have to avoid social media tomorrow.
I am going to have a pit in my stomach when I wake up in the morning.
There is no way we are going to win this game.

The next few minutes are a haze. A bad pass from Vanderbilt results in a foul. SGA hits two clutch free throws and BAM we are in overtime.

You know the rest of the story. We won. I do not know how but we did and in the end that is all that matters.

Lesson to be learned: Before the next game make sure to replenish supply of Rolaids and I might need to replace the cushion on my chair in the garage.

GO CATS!!
