Kentucky football players can be found on the first, second and fourth preseason All-SEC teams picked by college football writer Phil Steele.
In Steele’s football magazine Phil Steele’s College Football, the writer tabbed nine Wildcat players onto his preseason All-SEC teams. Here is the list of the UK players he chose and which respective tier Steele put them on:
This is not the first time Phil Steele Preseason All-SEC First-Team players Drake Jackson and Max Duffy have been featured as two of the best returning in the SEC — Jackson was named the No. 1 returning center in college football by Pro Football Focus last month, and Duffy has recently been named a Preseason First-Team All-American by Walter Camp and Sporting News.
Jamar “Boogie” Watson has also received preseason attention along with this latest honor of being named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-SEC Second-Team, as the SEC’s returning sack leader was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List this past Monday. All nine of the players listed by Steele are poised to have huge impacts on this coming Kentucky team.
I will say though, no DeAndre Square? As the player deemed to maybe be the leader of the defense and one that has had such a huge impact at Kentucky from day one, it is hard to see why the linebacker would not belong on one of those teams.
