The Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday that the start of the volleyball, soccer and cross country seasons are postponed through at least Aug. 31 due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The conference says this delay will allow extra time for the conference to plan out how the seasons will be played while abiding by health guidelines. This postponement includes all contests set before Aug. 31, in which each school will have to manage the rescheduling or cancellation of those games.
This announcement does not include football, as the SEC plans to re-address the scheduling for this coming college football season later this month while they monitor the Coronavirus pandemic. As of now football, soccer and volleyball teams in the conference are allowed to be on their respective campuses for voluntary workouts.
The situation remains fluid as so much has changed in the last few weeks regarding the feeling of having sports in the fall due to the rise of Covid-19 cases.
