Former UK guard and current Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray has been diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament of the left knee and will be out immediately, the team announced today.
There were only 50.6 seconds left in the game last night as Denver trailed Golden State 111-104 and Murray was driving down the lane before falling to the ground in clear anguish. The Canadian had missed the four games prior to last night, returning in hopes of finally getting rid of the injury bug before this last occurrence.
Before the injury, Murray was averaging 21.2 points per game, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists. The Nuggets had climbed all the way up to the fourth seed in the Western Conference standings, as the had won eight of their last nine going into last night.
Now, they will seemingly be without their star guard, who really flourished in the NBA Bubble, averaging 26.5 points per game in 19 playoff outings.
