Kentucky picked up a key transfer to get this summer started with the acquisition of former Ole Miss linebacker Jaquez Jones. He will be able to play immediately for the Cats and has two years of eligibility left.
“We are thrilled to add Jacquez to our team,” UK Head Coach Mark Stoops said. “He’s an experienced playmaker who has been a great leader in our league.”
Jones started nine of ten games for the Rebels in 2020, leading them with 75 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries. The season before, the linebacker appeared in all 12 games and earned a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team for his production.
With Jamin Davis moving on to the NFL and Chris Oats still unable to play, Jones fills in what started to become a hole in the middle of UK’s defense. His production can be a massive step in returning to the dominating form they have been in a lot of these last few seasons.
Kentucky will kickoff the 2021 schedule on Sept. 4 when they lost the ULM Warhawks at Kroger Field.
